sapodilla, also known as chico, is a small egg-shaped fruit that has brown, rough skin when ripe, and granular, sweet flesh that ranges in colour from yellow to brown. flavour varies according to the variety; some taste of pear, others taste of brown sugar. sapodillas contain inedible, small, brown seeds.
